Read below about some of the great activities the CSES PTA is involved in.

Arts & Literacy Night
This special night serves as a showcase for both art and writing projects that Carderock students have been working on during the year.

Back to School Picnic
This welcoming activity is scheduled within the first few weeks of school and takes place outside on the school grounds. The Back to School Picnic is a chance for students and their families, as well as teachers and staff, to socialize.

Bingo Night
Bingo Night is an evening event usually held in Whitman’s cafeteria for Carderock families.

Book Fair
The book fair is a fundraising event of an organized sale of books.

Carderock Birthday Book Club
This Birthday Book Club organizes the purchase of books by Carderock families in celebration of their child’s birthday. The books are then donated to the school's permanent library collection. A nameplate is inserted into the front of each book in honor of the child who purchased it. That child is allowed to be the first one to check out the book.

Cultural Arts
The Cultural Arts Committee schedules educational/cultural assemblies for the students during school hours. The chair works with the school’s front office to schedule assemblies with the school’s Master Calendar and other ongoing school events. This committee helps identify educational and interesting programs for the students by county-approved entertainers and performers.

End of Year PTA Luncheon
This luncheon is held on the last day of the school year for the PTA volunteers and Carderock staff.

FLES Program
The FLES or Foreign Language in Elementary Schools is a program offered to all students and runs from September through the end of May.

Grade Level Socials
Parents host a social in their home for r parents only so that they may have an opportunity to get to know one another in a relaxed and social atmosphere. Ideally, the socials should be held before November.

International Night
This is one of the most popular events for Carderock students each year. We have a very diverse ethnic community that allows for a true showcase of our different cultures at International Night.

Open House Breakfast
A continental breakfast and refreshments are provided on the morning of the Columbus Day holiday each year when Carderock holds the parent open house in each classroom.  

Gift Wrap Fundraiser
The annual Gift Wrap program is one of the largest and easiest fundraisers for the school. The first week of school each year, the students are given their "gift wrap packages" and are asked to sell wrapping paper and chocolates to their friends, neighbors and family.

Skate Night
Each year Carderock reserves one of the rinks at Cabin John Ice Rink and offers a family skate night.

Spring Fling
The annual spring fair is held each May and includes games, food, decorations, etc. for a carnival on the school grounds.

Variety Show
The Carderock Springs Student Variety Show is the annual event for CSES students to showcase their many talents.
